Let me start again.

Hello. My name is Rachel.

Having previously worked in the advertising industry, I became quite disillusioned by the whole thing. The IPCC reports on climate change made it clear that over-consumption is slow-rolling our speck of a planet off a tipping point. Given my preference for a stable income and the fact that generating ideas is one of the few skills I can offer for over 40 hours a week, this realisation was rather unsettling.

After a few sleepless nights (and crying in the toilets), I decided I could not hand over my ideas, a tiny part of who I am, to organisations that weren't committed to improving their practices. The issue with working at an agency is that you cannot control your clients. I then decided to take a leap into the murky void that is freelancing.

Since then I have been lucky to work with some fantastic clients that are committed to taking responsibility for their environmental impact. Though not always perfect and not always with ease, their transparency means I can sleep at night.

I am always inspired by the entrepreneurs, founders and organisations that have the courage to take a leap of faith and do things differently. It can be easier to 'go with the flow' of mainstream practices, as we all quite like pay cheques (big and small), but if people can't commit themselves to change, it won't happen.

Anyway! That's why I freelance. I love having ideas. I love executing them. I also love living on planet Earth and would like to keep it that way.
